Wellness Session: Memory & Aging
Tuesday, October 3, 2017 -2:30 pm to 3:30 pm
With Special Guest Helen Low
We all, at some time or another, have had the experience of losing our keys, misplacing a wallet or forgetting someone’s name. However, such memory lapses can be frightening for people nearing or over age 65. Their greatest fear is wondering if they have Alzheimer’s Disease or another type of dementia.
The good news is that Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging. However, it is important to understand that our brains change over time, and it is helpful to be able to distinguish normal changes from those that require medical and psychological attention.
Join us as Helen discusses:
How memory systems function and how some systems can change as we age
Possible causes of memory decline
Ways to reduce and manage memory decline and loss
Information about when to seek professional help
